Colombia’s government formally ratifies revised Farc peace deal

After four years of negotiations, following 52 years of conflict, the Colombian government has now formally ratified a peace agreement with the FARC. Only last month, the Colombian people rejected an earlier version of the peace treaty in a national referendum. This time, Colombia’s president Santos has opted to skip another referendum and go directly to congress, where the modified peace agreement has now been approved.
