My name is Juliana Kessler, I am currently enrolled in the master program ‘Climate Studies’ and following the specialization ‘Environmental Policy’. I obtained my bachelor degree in ‘International Relations and Management’ in Regensburg, Germany.
My international experiences – a voluntary service in Lima, a semester abroad in La Paz and an internship with the German development organisation (GIZ) in Beijing – were the driving forces behind my decision to focus on climate governance in a master program since these cities have all something in common: a high vulnerability in light of climate change impacts. My educational background and a strong personal interest in sustainable development resulted in the wish to become part of the SDD master track and Community.
Within my studies, I am focussing on climate security, climate migration, adaptation and mitigation strategies. In addition to that, disaster risk management and climate finance form part of my research interests.
