I am currently working as Office and Communications Coordinator at the Europe External Policy Advisors (EEPA) office in Brussels. Here, I am working mainly on research and advocacy on refugee issues, mostly human trafficking and smuggling from and in the Horn of Africa. The small office aims to work as a link between diaspora, research and the European Union institutions. We have also recently completed a small study on decentralised renewable energy in the EU’s development aid policies. I certainly feel that my SDD-education has been a great help in preparing me for this job, as it has enabled me to negotiate and consider creative solutions to issues related to complex sustainability problems. In addition, the SDDprogramme arms me with an arsenal of mutual gains techniques to use against – occasionally stubborn – EU politicians!
