Hello! My name is Roy Winkelhuijzen and I started with the SDD programme in 2015. Before emerging myself in SDD I did a bachelor in Biology at Wageningen University. However, I am mainly interested in nature and environmental protection and I felt that, in order to make more of an impact, I needed to learn more about the social and economic aspects of environmental problems as well. This is the main reason why I started with the master Forest and Nature Conservation, choosing SDD as a special master track. Currently I am doing an internship at the UN-REDD Programme Secretariat in Geneva, which is a UN organisation that aims to reduce carbon emissions from deforestation and forest degradation.
In my leisure time I like to do sports (mostly tennis and running), watch sports (could be anything), be outside, travel, explore and learn new things.
